Christian Education and Youth Ministries

First Congregational Church is a family-friendly church that sees a vibrant and well-rounded Christian Education program as an essential part of the church, with programs for all ages.

Children are invited to attend the first part of each Sunday service with their families; Sunday school begins after a "Children's Moment" with the congregation. The Sunday school lessons are coordinated with music and crafts in such a way as to keep the children interested and involved, while furthering their understanding and knowledge of Christian beliefs and values, always with an emphasis on the joy of God's love. The dedicated teachers and volunteers are devoted to finding new ways to insure that Sunday school is a meaningful, yet always enjoyable experience.

There is a separate ministry for teens, which delves more deeply into the Bible's messages for living in our times, and facing the challenges that come with young adulthood. Young people, like all Congregationalists, are encouraged to find God's truth through experience, and a strong focus is on finding the joy of God's love by giving to others, both within the community and beyond.

There are music programs for both children and teens, which include preparing for annual pageants at Christmas and Easter, and a special Youth Service every year in May. A new program for the teens is in the works for fall, which will place more emphasis on the joyous and up-tempo music of today's Christian youth.

We also have an adult education program, which is geared toward individual exploration of beliefs in a group setting. All are welcome to join the discussions at any time.

Come to First Congregational and find new friends - we would love to have you as a part of our church family!
